The MBA curriculum emphasizes communication and analytical skills, critical thinking, ethical behavior and interdisciplinary knowledge, as well as global, innovative and strategic leadership characteristics.

The MBA program of study is comprised of four parts:

  • Foundation (18 credits which may be waived)
  • Core (18 credits)
  • Restricted Electives (6 credits)
  • Specialization Courses (12-15 credits)

Students pursuing the general MBA will take 12 credits of open electives in lieu of specialization courses. Individuals who have a bachelor’s degree in business administration from an AACSB-accredited school will automatically waive all 18 credit hours of foundation courses. Students who have taken business courses at a non-AACSB institution may be eligible for foundation course waivers based on a review of their undergraduate coursework. In all cases a minimum of 36 graduate credit hours are necessary to earn the EMU MBA.

For assistance in selecting courses in future semesters, please refer to the MBA Expected Course Scheduling Pattern. This schedule is subject to change based on faculty availability or enrollment changes.
