Additional information needed/action to be taken:

When will the replacement class to EDMT 330 (Media/technology) be available to candidates?  When will the revised course EDPS 340, Introduction to Assessment and Evaluation) (for art ed majors only) be offered?  Will art ed faculty teach these two courses?  Please submit syllabi for these two courses.

The majority of the field experiences seem to be in secondary classrooms with the possibility of opting out of elementary experiences.  How will the institution ensure that candidates with this K-12 endorsement will be prepared to teach in elementary and secondary classrooms?

In EMU response #9, you indicate that candidates complete their field experiences in secondary art classrooms.  Does this refer to student teaching as well?  If so, candidates are not receiving the elementary student teaching experience needed for this K-12 endorsement.

Please resubmit the faculty table including, in the column for degrees, the area of specialty for faculty listed.  This table was not with the files received in December 2003.

Comments:

Regarding Standard 2.2.3, Comprehensive studio experiences that develop basic concepts and skills related to techniques, reviewers appreciate the changes in the amount of credits to be noted in the catalog to ensure that candidates receive a balance of coursework in two-dimensional and three-dimensional media.  They hope this will also be reflected in advising.

Reviewers were impressed by the speed and quality of the institution’s response to their questions and concerns.
