Standards/Requirements Not Met:

Standard 1.1 describe the purposes of state and local governments in the United States.  PLSC 112/113 does not cover this, when you examine Professor Bernstein’s syllabus; PLSC 202 State and Local Government should be a required course to cover this standard.

Standard 1.9 and 1.10 explain how the world is organized politically including governmental systems and power relationships beyond government;” and “explain how American foreign policy is formed and describe the roles the United States plays in the international arena.”  PLSC 112/113 does not cover world politics or foreign affairs when you examine Professor Bernstein’s syllabus.  PLSC 212 or PLSC 327 could be required courses for Education majors and minors to cover this standard.

Standard 2.1 sequence chronologically major eras within United States history and key events within those eras in order to examine relationships and explain cause and effect.  This standard requires a required US history course, not HIST 102 Western Civilization and HIST 103 Twentieth Century Civilization.

Standard 2.3 describe the market system and apply basic economic concepts as identified in the Michigan Curriculum Framework.  A required course needs to established here (not electives) such as ECON 201.
