Gaylord Roy Grandy ‘67 of Owosso died recently. He was a former teacher of mathematics in Corunna and in Stockridge. However, for some years he was a charter bus driver.

Edward Schultz ‘67, ‘71 is the new superintendent for the Rogers City area schools.

John D. White ‘72 is the new superintendent for the Highland Park school district.

Sheila Light ‘72, ‘86, ‘96 is the new principal at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School in Saline. She is coming to Saline from the Northside Child Development Center in Niles.

Saline High School assistant principal Jean Britton ‘80 is leaving that position to serve as director of the South and West Washtenaw Consortium, which includes Dexter, Chelsea, Manchester, Milan, and Saline.

Dennis Stratton ‘81, ‘87 is the new superintendent of the Posen Consolidated school district.

David Raft ‘92, assistant principal at Heritage Elementary School in Saline, will become the principal at the new Harvest Elementary School in Saline.

June 17, 2002

William Foster '61, '66, '74 is the assistant superintendent of the Algonac schools. He has been with the district in a variety of capacities for 41 years and has "no plans for leaving anytime soon."

Karl Stuef '67, '68, '80 is the new interim superintendent of the Dearborn Public Schools.

Tamber Woodworth '80, '93, currently assistant principal at Ann Arbor's Tappan Middle School, will become principal of Ann Arbor's Haisley Elementary School for this coming year.

Kimberly Prepsky Browning '82 is an assistant professor in early childhood education in the School of Education and Human Services, University of Michigan-Flint.

Cassandra Russell '84, '92, principal of Ann Arbor's Clague Middle School, will be taking a personal leave of absence during the coming year.

Joyce Powers '87, retired from her position as a media specialist in the Ann Arbor schools, was a successful candidate for a position on the Brighton school board in the recent elections.

June 8, 2002

Bill Bushaw ‘79, ‘81, the chief academic officer of the Michigan Department of Education, is leaving that position to become Director of Learning Systems for Merit Network, Inc. in Ann Arbor.

Jackie Flores ‘84, a special education teacher at Ypsilanti High School, received the 2002 "coach of the year" award for the Washtenaw County Special Olympics program. Flores and her work were featured in a recent article in the Ann Arbor News.

June 3, 2002

Meroe Ellen Stanley, age 79, died recently in Iowa. She taught home economics for 21 years in the Northville district.

Richard G. Telfer '48 of Las Vegas is the author of "A New Role for the Nevada Test Site" in the March/April issue of Radwaste Solutions, a pub-lication of the American Nuclear Society. Telfer reports a recent visit to Mesa, AZ to visit with Don Curry, a former EMU faculty member under whom Telfer studied in 1948.

Ron Jaworowski '62, '65, '74, a teacher at Slauson Middle School, was recently honored by the Ann Arbor school board and the PTO Council with a "Celebrating the Excellence" award.

Helen Read '65, lives in Madison, WI, where her husband Charles is the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Ken Walcott '70, superintendent in Norton Shores, is running in the Republican primary to represent the 91st district.

Frances Morgan Ransom '72, aged 79, died recently in Ann Arbor. She taught in parochial schools, then for some time in the Dexter schools.

Brit Satchwell '85, '96, a teacher at Forsythe Middle School, was recently honored by the Ann Arbor school board and the PTO Council with a "Celebrating the Excellence" award.
