Barbara Jones, corporate relations manager for EMU's Career Services unit, has received several recognitions recently. She is the recipient of the 2003 Athena award from the Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce Women's Council. Last Monday, there was a feature story (including photo) about her in the Ann Arbor News. During this past week's Division of Student Affairs' Salute to Excellence Breakfast, she was awarded the Gold Medallion as "Division Ambassador."

Chloe Charlotte West '32, '63, age 89, died recently. She began her career in a one-room school house in the 1930's. Later, she taught at Farrand Elementary School in Plymouth.

Robert K. Archer '46 died recently in Florida. He was a popular history and social studies teacher at Dearborn High School before taking up the practice of law. He was a founding partner of Archer, Kenney, Wilson, and Cohen in Dearborn and active in many civic organizations.

Yvonne Golusin '73, age 51, of Bloomfield Hills, died recently. She was southeast regional director of the Michigan State Medical Society Alliance and active in many community organizations.

The induction for the EMU Education Alumni Hall of Fame will be held beginning at 4:00 p.m. on March 28. The reception will be in the Student Lounge of the Porter Building and the public is invited. The 2003 inductees are: the late Frank Manley; William "Bill" Morris; Robert "Bob" Parks; the late David E. Smith; and James A. Wilsford.

Catherine L. Steinbach '51, of Dexter, died recently. She taught in one-room schools in Hopson and White Rock. Later she taught in Harbor Beach and Dexter.

Mary Annetta Taylor ‘56, ‘65 died recently at age 78. She taught in the Willow Run district and in the Ann Arbor district, from which she retired after a 31-year career.

Theo Hamilton ‘55, ‘62, ‘67, who recently turned 80 and who remains a full-time employee of EMU's Career Services, was pictured in a recent issue of Focus EMU.

Thomas Fleming ‘68, ‘93 was featured in a recent issue of Focus EMU, particularly in connection with his service on the President's Commission on Excellence in Special Education. Fleming was the 1992 National Teacher of the Year.

Frank J. Fedel ‘86 lives in Royal Oak, where he does sports and recreation product consultation and design, exercise physiology research, and related activities. An avid competitive athlete, he has completed more than 100 triathlons/duathlons, 60 inline skate races, 50 running races, weight lifting competitions, and many others.

Florence E. Graichen ‘43, age 83, died recently. She had taught in Melvindale early in her career and she retired from the Willow Run schools.

Charles N. Roberts, age 72, died recently. He retired from the Ann Arbor school district as an automotive instructor.

Lillian L. Nissly ‘64, age 97, died recently. She taught art in the Ypsilanti schools for 20 years.
