Open Lab

  1. After clicking the print option, students will be prompted to enter their user name and password.
  2. User name will be a student’s my.emich user name (i.e. John Smith will be jsmith, or jsmith1 etc…)
  3. The password will be the first letter of their first and last name (lower case), followed by the last four digits of their EID number. (For example: A student named John Smith with an EID of E00012345, will have the password of: js2345.)
  4. With this signing in system, students will be allotted the usual 10 pages per day. When a student exceeds this daily amount, he/she will be charged $.05/per page, due at the time of printing.
  5. *Please note this is a Bonisteel Technology Lab policy, and your Eastern Michigan University student account will not be charged.

Classrooms

Currently, each classroom in the lab is equipped with a printer where students and faculty can freely print with no page limit, during their class period. In some instances, hundreds of pages are left unclaimed at the classroom printer; and many of these are non-class related items.

With the new policy, only the faculty workstation will be able to print. This will enable the faculty to determine what is necessary to be printed during the class period. If students wish to send a file to their professor, they can do so by sending email attachments or by dragging their file to the shared folder. These options will save both ink and paper.

Submitting Work via a Shared Folder:

  1. The shared folder named Student Printing Folder is located on the Desktop of all student workstations.
  2. To send files to the teaching computer, students need to drag the file to the Student Printing Folder (See example below).

Copying file to Student Printing Folder
    Copy file(s) into
    "Student Printing Folder"
    located on Desktop
  3. The professor should see the student file on the teaching station in the folder labeled Student Printing Folder. At this point, if they wish to, professors can print the student file.
