1. How do I schedule an appointment?

An initial appointment can be made by calling the College of Education Clinical Suite at 734.487.4410.  The Clinic is open Monday through Thursdays.  Availability of appointments is dependant on the number of available advanced trainees in each clinic per semester. The staff of the COE Clinical Suite will schedule your initial appointment and can answer any questions you may have about the services offered.

2. What are your hours?

The Counseling Clinic is open Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM by appointment.

3. Where are you located?

The Counseling Clinic is housed in Suite 135 of the John W. Porter College of Education Building on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. Parking in the McKenny or Oakwood gated lots is available to non-EMU clients. 4. What are your fees?

Services for EMU Students and Staff are free of charge. Clients from the community are charged using a sliding scale. In some instances, fees can be waived due to financial difficulties

5. What counseling services do you provide?

The Counseling Clinic provides a wide variety of services which are available to residents of southeastern Michigan and to EMU students, faculty, and staff. Types of Counseling: Individual Couples Child Small Group Focus of Counseling: The focus of counseling is determined by the client’s needs and issues.  Common concerns are as diverse as the clients who come to the clinic. Counseling Available for: Children (Ages 4 & up) Adolescents Adults

6. Who provides the counseling services?

The Counseling Clinic is a training facility in which EMU advanced graduate students enrolled in a CACREP accredited Master’s Degree Program in Counseling provide counseling services to the public as part of their training experiences. All counseling services are closely supervised by faculty members who are fully licensed professional counselors. This supervision is accomplished through the use of unobtrusive video technology and regular individual and group meetings with the faculty. Occasionally, even with such close supervision, the needs of a client may exceed the abilities of a counselor-in-training to be of adequate assistance. In these instances, referrals for additional assistance will be provided.
