Minutes of Meeting on 4-1-03

 

Present: Sue Stickel, CSAP; Chris Bocklage, Art; Jennifer Hoffman, Graduate Assistant, Art, Nancy Halmhuber, SPED, Mary L. Rearick, TED, Helen Ditzhazy, EDLD, Jim Berry, Interim Associate Dean, Jackie Tracey, L&C, 

 

The meeting was called to order by  Sue Stickel, Secretary. Minutes for 3-18-03 were presented and approved .

 

Jackie Tracey presented proposed Program/Course Revisions and Changes for the COUN and the EDLD Programs   It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval prerequisite and course description changes for COUN 510, COUN 612, and COUN 650 The motion passed It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval for COUN 576 Counseling Survivors of Trauma, a change from a special topic to a new curricular offering.   The motion passed.

 

A proposal was presented to grant preliminary approval for moving SPGN 510 from a required cognate course to an elective course on the School Counseling Program of Study.  The approval is contingent on discussion to take place at the Special Education faculty meeting It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval. The motion passed.

 

A proposal was presented for changing COUN 610 to COUN 508 a 3 credit course with prerequisite changes  It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval. The motion passed.

 

A proposal was presented for catalog revisions for SOFD 580  It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval. The motion passed A proposal was presented for changes in course title, description and credit hours for COUN 622 It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval. The motion passed.

 

 A proposal was presented for adding COUN 508 and COUN 622 to the basic core curriculum for school counseling and to change the number of internship hours from 6 to 4 It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval. The motion passed.

 

 A proposal was presented to move EDLD 625 to a requirement in the concentration area for the EDLD Specialist Degree and to remove EDLD 712 from the research area of the EDLD Specialist Degree It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval. The motion passed.

 

 A proposal was presented to move the following special topics courses to permanent course offerings:  EDLD 636 Legal, Ethical, and Policy Issues in Student Affairs, EDLD 601 Grant writing & Fundraising for College and School Professionals It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval. The motion passed.

 

 Jim Berry presented an update and facilitated discussion concerning the conceptual

 for the NCATE visit.  The meeting was adjourned with April 15 as an “as needed  meeting date.
