Minutes of Meeting on 3-18-03

The meeting was called to order by Ron Williamson, Co-Chair.

 

Minutes for 2-18-03 were presented and approved

.

 

Representatives from HPERD responded to concerns identified at the Advanced Programs Committee meeting on 2-18 concerning the proposal for a Master of Science Degree in Health Education.

 

The program is designed to prepare health educators at the master’s level for school and community settings.  The program would be scheduled to begin in the fall of 2004.

 

It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval for the program.

The motion passed

 

Jackie Tracey presented a proposal for a Post Master’s Certificate Program for School Counselor Licensure

 

The program is intended to allow graduates of counseling programs in community or college counseling to add a school counseling credential.

 

It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval for the program provided that the minimum number of hours be increased to 12 to meet the requirements for a graduate certificate program.

 

The motion passed

 

A package of forms necessary for the Special Education Program was presented.

 

It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval for the package

 

The motion passed

 

Jim Berry presented a current draft of the Conceptual Framework for Advanced Programs.

Discussion centered on concerns that the conceptual framework represent work that had been done relative to the conceptual framework in individual programs. Some confusion exists as to the proper routing of information and documents.

The committee requested that the document be brought to the meeting on April 1 for further discussion.

 

A proposal was presented to approve prerequisite changes for EDMT 653, EDMT 623, and EDMT 628.

 

It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval.

A proposal was presented for catalog revisions for SOFD 550

 

It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval.

 

The motion passed

 

A proposal was presented for catalog revisions for SOFD 580

 

It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval.

 

The motion passed

 

A proposal was presented for catalog revisions for SOFD 572

 

It was moved and seconded that the committee grant approval.

 

The motion passed

 

 

 

The next meeting will be will be on April 1 with April 15 as the “as needed” date.
