Recommends approval of:
a. Change in description of BIOL 303 Life Science for Elementary Teachers to: AImportant biological concepts, especially relating to the interrelationships of organisms within their environment; the investigative or >discovery= approach; methodology involved in the new approaches to teaching science. One hour of lecture and four hours weekly involving recitation, laboratory or fieldwork. Concluding course in the elementary science sequence. Prereq: CURR 304.@
b. Deletion of SPSI 336 Physiologic Phonetics: Anatomy and Physiology and SPSI 332 Acoustic Phonetics: Speech Science from requirements of program in Hearing Impairment (only).

a. Proposed new course INDT 263 Aircraft Systems (3). This course is designed to provide an understanding of aircraft systems. The course will focus on applicable theories, principles and operations of the components that make up aircraft systems. The course will prepare the student to succeed in future employer-required aircraft systems classes.
b. SPMD 430 Electrocardiography (3) for graduate credit.
c. 11 new graduate courses for Ph.D. in Technology (additional information available at the meeting)

6. New business (carried over from previous meeting)
Proposed motion: Effective immediately, all proposals for new programs for teachers and other educational personnel and all proposals for revisions of existing programs for teachers and other educational personnel, in order to be considered by the COE Council, must be accompanied by
(a) an analysis (usually the State or SPA Standards grid, or relevant portion thereof) of how the new or revised program meets the applicable state or national standards; and
(b-1) (for new programs) a statement of the minimum total number of hours necessary to complete the entire degree program, or
(b-2) (for program revisions) item (b-1) for the present program and a statement of the effect of the proposed revisions on the total length of the program.
(For (b-1), it is recommended that a list be provided of all courses required for degree requirements, grouped by general education, by major, by minor, by professional education sequence, with notations of those courses that are being used to satisfy multiple requirements [Adouble dipping@].)
