Minutes
July 30, 2003
Members Present: Lidia Lee, Jim Berry, Jerry Robbins, Ellen Hoffman, Martha Kinney-Sedgwick, Ian Haslam, Susan McCarthy, David Anderson, Lizbeth Stevens.
Martha Kinney-Sedgwick, Chair, called the meeting to order at 2:15.
The minutes of June 11, 2003 were approved.
Dr. Robert Van Der Velde, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs was a guest at the meeting. His purpose was to become familiar with the committee’s proceedings. He spoke of some of his plans for the coming year which include fostering professional growth for faculty and improving the climate of labor relations on campus.
There was an announcement from Ellen Hoffman regarding COATT, the Consortium for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching with Technology, which will be housed in the College of Education this coming year.
The motion to approve recommendations A through E submitted by the Basic Programs Committee, pending the suggested editorial changes was carried.
The motion to change the prerequisites for RDNG 310 to CURR 304 and RDNG 300 submitted by the Teacher Education Department was carried.
The meeting closed with the Dean’s report on his progress with NCATE. The Council commended him for his work.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:30.
