1. Where is the Bonisteel Technology Lab located?
The Bonisteel Technology Lab is located in Suite 205 of the John W. Porter Building.

2. What is the lab "Check-In" Procedure?

To use a computer at Bonisteel Technology Lab, you must present a valid Eastern Michigan University Identification Card (NO EXCEPTIONS.) Afterwards, you will be assigned to computer and be allotted ten pages of printing per day. Please see our printing policies for more details.

3. Why are students required to show and EMU ID when using the lab?

Originally the lab utilized a sign-in sheet for students, but based on requests for a new procedure, we now have a software program which allows us to swipe students’ identification cards. This policy also ensures that all users are EMU faculty or students.

4. Where do I go for Livetext information?

Livetext classes are taught in the lab, however if you have any questions about the program please click here, or inquire at the Office of Academic Services, (206 Porter Building).

5. Where should I go if I leave something in the lab?

If you have forgotten a personal item in the lab, please see the front desk attendant about our lost and found drawer.

6. Why are there shorter lab hours during final exam week?

During exam week there are less students who come into the lab; at this time the lab staff also has their final exams, so open lab hours must be adjusted.

7. Why is the lab only open for five hours on Fridays?

On Fridays there are only minimal students, (about 1-5 students total for the day), who come to use the lab. This being the case it is not necessary to stay open for a full day.

8. Why is there no food or drink allowed in the lab?

As with other labs on campus, Bonisteel Lab does not allow food or drink in the lab. Computers and printers have been damaged in the past by food and drink, and the policy is enforced to prevent this from happening again.

9. What is meant by the "Quiet Zone" signs posted around the lab?

Bonisteel lab strives to maintain a quiet environment for its users. If you wish to work in a group, please request computers in the back of the lab, and be considerate of other students. Headphones are available at the front desk for students to use.

10. Are students able to check-out cameras in the lab?

Yes, there are both digital video and digital still cameras available to lab users. When checking out a camera you must give your driver’s license to the front desk attendant, and must stay in the lab to do your work. Cameras are only allowed to leave the lab when the students’ class is in session; in this case the professor will check- out the cameras.

11. How can I use a scanner in the open lab?

There are five scanners available for student and faculty use in the open lab. Four of these scanners are located at PCs#29-32, and one is located at Mac#60. Below is an instructional video on how to scan both pictures and documents.
