CATE

The Center for
Adaptive Technology Education

The CATE Lab was designed for use by students, staff and faculty with disabilities to incorporate the use of computers and related technology into the learning and working atmosphere of Eastern Michigan University.

The CATE Lab provides technology evaluations to students with permanent or temporary disabilities for the purpose of determining how adaptive technology can improve the learning environment. Individualized and group training on adaptive technology is provided in the CATE Lab, through online instruction and on-site at student's homes or work environments. The CATE lab also serves disabled staff and faculty upon referral from Human Resources. Employees with permanent or temporary disabilities are given a technology evaluation and the recommendation of appropriate adaptive equipment where needed. There is no charge for usage of the CATE Lab.
