The Department of Leadership and Counseling provides top-quality educational experiences for a student population composed primarily of adult learners who are employed on a full-time basis in their respective fields.
Both the educational leadership program (which prepares leaders for K-12 schools and institutions of higher education) and the counseling program (which prepares school, community, and college counselors) seek to distinguish themselves in the state of Michigan through graduate degrees that lead to voluntary administrative certification, counselor licensure, and school counselor endorsement.
The college, community, and school counseling programs offered by the Department of Leadership & Counseling are accredited by:
Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
*The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program is in the process of being reviewed for accreditation by CACREP.
National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
