"Promoting Excellence in the Profession of Counseling"

Chi Sigma Iota is the international honor society for students, professional counselors and counselor educators established at Ohio University in 1985. Our mission is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling.

The Pi Omega Chapter was established at Eastern Michigan University in 2007. We have initiated more than 40 members in our first year.

Who's Eligible for Membership?
Those students who are enrolled in counseling programs (school counseling, community counseling, or college counseling) leading to graduate degree (master's) or professional credentialing courses of studies in counseling are eligible.

  • They shall have completed the equivalent of at least nine approved graduate credits in counseling as defined by the institution.
  • They must have maintained an overall GPA of 3.5 or better (4.0 System) while enrolled in the program.
  • They shall have the recommendation from a COUN faculty member for membership.

How do I Apply?
If you are a student currently enrolled in Eastern Michigan University's Graduate Counseling Program with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and have completed nine graduate credit hours in counseling courses, email Dr. Diane L. Parfitt, PhD, LPC, ACS for application information.
