"Promoting Excellence
in the Profession of Counseling"
Chi
Sigma Iota is
the international honor society for students, professional
counselors and counselor educators established
at Ohio University in 1985. Our mission is to
promote scholarship, research, professionalism,
leadership and excellence in counseling, and
to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of
academic and clinical excellence in the profession
of counseling.
The Pi Omega Chapter was
established at Eastern Michigan University in 2007. We initiated more than 40 members in our first year and now have over 80 members. We provide opportunities for our members to participate in learning more through conferences and networking through social events. In addition, each year we will be involved in a philanthropic project. We have worked diligently to provide our membership with meaningful professional counseling conferences every year since our founding in 2007! Some of our conferences were co-sponsored with professional state and local counseling organizations (e.g., MASGW, WCA) and with professional agencies (e.g., Dawn Farms, CSTS). Our conferences thus far include: Substance Abuse Across the Life Span; Career Launch; Leading Groups with Children & Adolescents; Wellness Conference: The Body, Mind and Spirit Connection ; Treating Adolescents ; and Suicide Assessment. We welcome your involvement in the planning of our conferences to come, volunteering for our philanthropic project, and/or being present at our social events. Let us know if you are interested in helping or just show up at the scheduled events!
