2. What are the admission requirements?

Each program has specific requirements. Please request an information packet from the department or visit www.emich.edu/coe/lc/admissions.html for current information. All materials must be sent to the Graduate Admissions office:

3. What are the degree admission deadlines?

All Counseling Programs

4. Do you offer rolling admission?

   Rolling admission is offered in three of the Educational Leadership programs (all EDLD Master's, the Community College Leadership Certificate and the Specialist Degree). Applications received by the deadlines indicated in FAQ #3 are assured timely processing. Any applications received after the deadline are processed in the order received.

5. How many classes may I take before becoming degree admitted?

A student may not take more than 12 semester hours without having degree admission status and a program of study on file.

6. When do I develop a program of study?

   Once you have been admitted and begin taking classes, a program of study should be developed with the approval of your assigned advisor during your first semester.

   • A student may not take more than 12 semester hours without an official program of study on file
   • Please note that some programs require that specific courses be included in the first 9 hours

7. Does admission into the Educational Leadership program require a teaching certificate?

No, a teaching certificate is not required for admission.

8. How do I apply for Graduate Student Financial Assistance?

Students interested in graduate assistantship or doctoral fellowships positions must download the Graduate Student Financial Assistance Application Form. Submit the application, recommendations and resume to:
