SHORT ITEMS
Jerry Robbins recently attended the annual meeting of the Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities in Las Vegas, NV. While there, Robbins presented a paper on "Grow Your Own Teachers," describing EMU's efforts in increasing the numbers of minority teachers.
Thirteen minority students have transferred to EMU this fall from other institutions in the state. Of these, at least five have indicated an interest in teaching.
Several COE faculty and staff members have connections with the area of India recently hit by a major earthquake. Donations to the American Red Cross, Indian Earthquake Relief, P.O. Box 33351, Detroit 48232-5351 are welcomed.
MATERIALS AVAILABLE
A "Guide for Handicapped Students at Eastern Michigan University" is available from the Dean of Students office. A summary of deadlines for grants and fellowships, September through December 1993 is available from ORD or through Donna Schmitt's office.
