"COFFEE WITH THE DEAN" SESSIONS SCHEDULED

"Coffee with the Dean" sessions have been scheduled for February 1, March 1, April 2, April 29, May 28, and June 30.  Each date, three sessions--one each in Boone, Rackham, and Warner--will be held with time of day rotating among the locations.  See the "Planning Ahead" section for specifics.

All sessions are without agenda, "come and go," and open to faculty, staff, and students.  Persons should feel free to attend sessions not held in their building, if another time is more convenient.

COLLEGE COUNCIL MEETS

The College of Education Council met on January 13.  Two proposed courses were referred to the Instruction Committee for "workup" and report.  Changes in the doctoral program admissions requirements were approved.

In action related to standing committee reports, part of the items previously referred to the Instruction Committee were approved, with the committee continuing work on others.  Reports were heard from the Community Advisory Committee, UCTE, and the Student Advisory Committee.

There was further discussion on College goals and 1992-93 objectives related to those goals.  No action was taken.  The Council agreed to drop from the agenda two items that had been on the agenda for some while, but on which no action had been taken.  Both had to do with an opportunity for input on university-wide matters.

Phyllis Noda is to be asked to attend a meeting of the COE Council to present a proposal for an additional endorsement area in Intercultural/Translingual Studies.
