BARRINGER MAKES NATIONAL BOARD PRESENTATION
COE alum Mary-Dean Barringer, Director of the Field Test Network for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, presented on the work of the NBPTS to a larger-than-usual (for such events) audience at a "brown bag" lunch on June 29.

FACULTY NOTES
John Blair presented two papers at the 1993 annual meeting of the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters. These were on "Journaling for Personal and Spiritual Development" and "Addiction Resources for College Students."
Jaime Grinberg has had a paper accepted for presentation at the convention of the History of Education Society and the Midwest History of Education Society. The paper is on "Above and Beyond Markets, Credentials, and Social Mobility: The Case of the Cooperative School for Student Teachers."
Leon Neeb and Jerry Robbins will attend a training session July 7-9 in Lansing for the first cadre of evaluators for the Michigan Department of Education's new periodic/program review process.
SPORTS NEWS
The EMU COE-sponsored golf team for the Young Educators Society scholarship fund benefit won the Team Championship Trophy on June 19 at the Highland Hills golf course.
RECREATION ACCREDITATION VISIT SET
The recreation program will host visitors on November 11-14 for an initial accreditation visit.
LEARNING COMMUNITY COALITION
COE faculty, staff, and students interested in volunteering to help with activities of the Learning Community Coalition (serving youngsters and families in the Ypsilanti and other Washtenaw County communities) will want to contact Jeannine LaSovage at 484-6650.
