The revised theme is "Inquiry, advocacy, and leadership for a diverse and democratic society."
Various reports were received. The Council endorsed the dean's administrative action concerning two curricular items: (a) revisions to the physics teaching program and (b) a move of ZOOL 318 to become SPMD 318 Laboratory in Human Anatomy. However, the Council adopted a motion requesting the dean to notify members of the COE Council before taking such actions in the future.
After considerable discussion, a proposal from the dean of the College of Technology for changes in the program in technology and design (TX) was not approved, but was returned to the College of Technology with a request that this be processed through normal curriculum approval procedures, with a suggestion that the proposal be revised to include greater alignment with other EMU programs for preparing secondary teachers.
