FROM THE DESK OF THE DEAN
As we approach the close of this calendar year, my hope is that you and your loved ones will enjoy the winter break. If holiday travel and gatherings are a part of your break, I certainly wish you joy, peace, health, and happiness. We all look forward to a prosperous New Year and all the opportunities it will bring for the College of Education.
As you begin thinking about the New Year, I am requesting that you hold January 20, 2005 for a special winter conference focused on continuous improvement in preparation for the forthcoming NCATE accreditation visit in 2010. Specifically, we are seeking your input on an assessment system that we will be able to live with for the forthcoming years, one that capitalizes upon the pre-existing program assessment data to support the Educational Unit at Eastern Michigan.

As an EMU alumni and former graduate assistant in the Dean’s Office, Ms. Simpson promises to continue the wonderful work initiated by Ms. Susan Rink. Ms. Simpson brings a strong background in business and substantial experience in the area of fundraising. One goal established for Ms. Simpson is raise funding to support students who are returning to the COE to complete their degree under the “Return to Learn” Program.
