SPGN 251 Assessments and Requirements:
1.
There will be
three examinations, each worth 50 points for a total of 150 points. The exams will cover readings and materials
presented in each third of the semester.
There is no cumulative final exam.
2. Lesson
Design/Adaptation Activity: The purpose of this assignment is to
provide students the opportunity to synthesize and apply their course knowledge
by modifying and adapting selected content, instructional strategies, and
assessment procedures to meet the needs of specific children and adolescents
with disabilities. Students will
identify an age/grade level for students in a regular education classroom;
select and describe a lesson, concept or skill that is appropriate for the
age/grade level selected, and can be taught during a single class period;
develop learning objectives for the selected lesson; describe two exceptional
students likely to be found in a regular education classroom; create and
describe easily implemented, inexpensive modifications to the selected lesson
for each student with disabilities; provide a rationale for each modification
selected; design and describe the assessment procedures for the lesson and
create modifications as appropriate for each student.
