SPGN 251 Lesson Design/Adaptation Activity

 

This assignment is designed to provide you an opportunity to synthesize and apply your course knowledge by modifying and adapting selected content, instructional strategies, and assessment procedures to meet the needs of specific children and adolescents with exceptionalities. The assignment has seven components.

 

  1. Identify an age/grade level for students in a regular education classroom.
  2. Select and describe a lesson, concept or skill that is appropriate for the age/grade level selected and can be taught during a single class period.
  3. Develop learning objectives for the selected lesson.
  4. Describe two students with special learning needs likely to be found in a regular education classroom. The students should have two different types of exceptionalities.
  5. Create and describe easily implemented, inexpensive modifications to the selected lesson for each student with exceptionalities.
  6. Provide a rationale for each modification selected.
  7. Design and describe the assessment procedures for the lesson and create modifications as appropriate for each student.
