The Arts programs work with the national standards for their programs. Both programs submit folios for review by the National Association of Schools of Music And National Art Education Society.
The Arts Group utilizes national standards in developing the education minor. In addressing the elementary standards they address the K-12 national standards. The Fine Arts faculty use The National Standards for the Visual Arts. The Music Faculty use The National Music Education Standards. The Technology Education Faculty use The International Technology Education Association Standards for Technological Literacy.

The
d. P-12 collaborative work
In FA 300, education students work one-on-one with a child in an art classroom. They write a case study based on their observation, written a summary of the observation, and analysis of the child’s work and performance, which compares theory and practice. In MUSC 104, education students do classroom observations. In TEDU 253, education students earn credit for assisting elementary children during a technology activity and writing a report.
