Methods for Instruction

Methods of geography and educational instruction include a wide mix of lecture, discussion, hands-on laboratories and group projects. EMU is also a leader in service-learning as a methodology, and this is reflected in service-learning projects in both geography and education classes. EMU’s GIS program is nationally recognized, and students receive extensive hands-on training in computer resources in geography. The History/Social Studies Methods class was honored with a grant from Michigan Campus Compact to develop service-learning in the social studies teacher education curriculum.
