Previous Program Approval/Recognition

          EMU’s social studies program has also been recognized by external funding agencies as a leading provider of pre-service and in-service teacher training. Michigan Campus Compact has awarded the department a grant to introduce service-learning into history teaching methods classes, and the Michigan Department of Education has recently awarded the department funds to improve social studies instruction in Ypsilanti Public Schools.
