Commitment to Technology.
The
Unit is committed to the preparation of candidates
who can use "instructional technology to enhance learning and
personal/professional productivity." To ensure the systematic integration of
technology knowledge, skills and dispositions, we require,
at the initial level, that all candidates complete
required courses in educational technology. Students
at the advanced level are expected to be proficient
in the use of relevant
technology as well.
Candidates
who complete EMU's
educator preparation programs exhibit comfort and confidence
with various aspects and perspectives in our technological
universe, both inside the classroom and in the larger
community. Candidates use technology as a production
tool for developing teaching materials, as a teaching
tool for assisting in the learning process, and as
an information tool for research and learning. They
experience multiple forms of instructional technology
modeled skillfully
by faculty; and they are afforded many opportunities
to effectively use technology to support their teaching
and student learning.
