Exhibit 1.5.A
Summary of Assessments at Entry
For
the initial preparation program, the admission requirements may be found
in the 2003-2005
EMU undergraduate catalog,
p. 167. Each
candidate is expected to meet all minimum criteria. At such time as the
applicant meets all criteria, he or she is admitted. At the initial level,
we do not choose among those who meet minimum requirements. All who apply
and meet the requirements are admitted.
Our
data system does not yet permit us to make statements
such as "the mean GPA for those admitted
to the initial teacher preparation program has risen, on average,
X points per year for the past Y years." Clearly
such information would be desirable and collecting and using
it is on our agenda.
At the advanced level, the admission requirements are given
in the individual program sections of the 2003-2005
EMU graduate catalog. As
is the case with the initial preparation program, each candidate
is expected to
meet all minimum criteria. However, the advanced programs differ from the
initial programs in that not every minimally-qualified applicant
is accepted.
Our data system does not yet permit us to capture and report
entry-level assessments across programs or across time. Remedying this matter
is on our agenda as well.
