Performance Assessment: Classroom Assessment Project
EDPS
340: Introduction to Assessment and Evaluation
Criteria for Passing Assessment:
Students must complete the CAP with a C or higher in order to pass the course. In addition, they must receive a C or better on each part of the CAP. If they do not, they may receive remediation and given the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding and receive a passing grade on the project.
Analysis of Sample Data:
Based on the sample in the graph below, students generally understand and are able to complete this task at an acceptable level. They appear to have the most difficulty with writing high quality test items and answer keys and tying these to the outcomes in their blueprint. They have the least difficulty developing a high quality projects and rubrics. Course faculty have had ongoing meetings to improve directions and rubrics over the last several years, resulting in higher quality projects from students. In addition, we have shared resources and discussed our various expectations for student work so that students can expect similar requirements from all who teach this course. In the coming semester, we will be meeting to review this data and corresponding student sample projects in order to identify specific weaknesses, especially in the test and test bank assignment, explore possible student misunderstandings, and share instructional methods.
