Criteria for Passing Assessment:
Unlike other assessments, the electronic portfolio rubric uses externally-set criteria and levels. The state of Michigan has designated levels of achievement for each of the sub-sections of the (seventh) state standard, the standard dealing with educational technology. Based on these levels, our students must attain a level of 2, or “Basic” in order to pass the course.
Analysis of Sample Data:
Based on the sample in the graph, the large majority of students are achieving at or above this level. They are most successful at demonstrating knowledge regarding instructional management, supporting student problem solving, and appreciating equity issues regarding technology. Students are more likely to have difficulty developing complex learning activities, identifying resources for current information or professional development, or demonstrating knowledge of multimedia. While this assessment did not provide evidence of substantial difficulties, it will be used as the basis for continuing discussion around the development of both this assessment and the educational media and technology course.
