Errata and Addenda

In the Institutional Report, all references to the
master's degree in Technology Education should be changed to the
master's degree in Career, Technical, and Workforce Education. This
program has had a name and structure change that has been approved and
included in the 2003-2005 Graduate Catalog.

Business and Technology Education
Assessment Plan for Business Services
and Technology Education Fall 2003."

References
in the Institutional Report and the Exhibits to "four years" of data
from a survey provided and processed by Educational Benchmarking, Inc.
(EBI) are incorrect. The fourth year data were, indeed, gathered from
the student teachers of the Fall 2002 and Winter 2003 semesters. The
original mark-sense forms were sent to EBI via United Parcel Service
(UPS). At the time of writing the Institutional Report and related
Exhibits, the processed data from EBI were expected at any time and the
plans were to incorporate those data into the relevant Exhibits.
Eventually, EBI was contacted about our not having received the usual
reports. EBI said that they had not received data from EMU this year. A
tracer was placed on the UPS parcel that contained all the original
forms. UPS has been unable to trace or locate the package and it is
presumed lost. Both EBI and UPS have offered to "settle." As a result,
the "fourth consecutive year" of data are unavailable, although
gathered, and we have only three years of data to report at this time.
- In
Standard I.F, Exhibit
2.10, and elsewhere in our materials, there
is reference
to the use of the "Red Flag" process in
connection
with the assessment of dispositions. There have been two instances
thus far where a student has left the program because of a "Red
Flag" related matter. In both cases the student was issued one
Red Flag,
which requires the student to come in and meet with Alane Starko,
the
Head of the Department of Teacher Education. In both cases the
students refused to meet with Dr. Starko and chose to leave the
program
instead.
The causes of the Red Flags were, in the first case, a student
who
behaved so badly at the state testing center that security
became
involved and EMU authorities were contacted. In the second
case, Dr.
Starko made the judgment call that three separate faculty
concerns were
sufficient, in total, to constitute a Red Flag. The concerns
were about
inability to work in groups, inappropriate class comments,
and related
serious lack of appropriate social interactions.
