Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK)
Deadline: March 30, 2012
Do you want to explore other countries but don't want a complete break from your program and career? Here is the perfect opportunity for you! The Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK) Program offers a paid teaching internship in South Korea that will enrich your teaching career and professional experiences while providing you international fun in a culturally and linguistically different setting.
For the TaLK Program, the Korean Ministry of Education (KME) recruits pre-service, native English speaking teachers who are junior or above status. So far, Eastern Michigan University has sent 51 students to Korea as part of the TaLK program. Each participant receives travel costs and housing benefits (from scholarships) adding up to more than $10,000. Currently, 16 TaLK scholars are teaching in Korea and a new group of 16 students are waiting to begin their journey in February 2012.
This is a great opportunity for EMU students, regardless of their majors. They will teach Korean elementary students in rural areas for three hours a day, five days per week for five-to-six months. They will receive one (1) month of orientation in Korea before beginning their teaching. Additionally, they will attend preparation classes led by professor Myung-Sook Koh in the Department of Special Education. For more information, contact Dr. Myung-Sook Koh by email at email@example.com or visit the Academic Programs Abroad website at ep.emich.edu/abroad/korea.aspx.
