Press Release: Eastern Michigan University College of Education again earns professional accreditation

The Unit Accreditation Board of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) announced on April 21 that it is re-accrediting EMU's educator preparation programs through the year 2017. EMU's educator preparation programs have been continuously accredited by NCATE since the accrediting body was founded in 1954. Read the press release.

Open forum sessions will be held in March for each COE Dean candidate. During these sessions the candidates will present their experience as well as their vision for the College of Education. FETE registration requires proof of background check

Registration for FETE 301/302, FETE 401/402, Practicum 304/305 and Practicum 310/311 requires proof of a background check. If you do not have a background check currently on file with the Department of Teacher Education, please visit ICHAT and complete the process. Bring the background check to 313 Porter and you will be given permission to register. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER WITHOUT A COMPLETED BACKGROUND CHECK. New Michigan Department of Education process for applying for a teaching certificate

The Michigan Department of Education has changed the application process for educator certification. Teachers and teacher candidates who meet all requirements for Michigan certification must apply through the new Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS). MOECS becomes operational February 8, 2011. Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate teacher certification students can get more information about MOECS here.
