Dr.
Nora Martin is a fulltime Professor and the Eastern
Michigan University Coordinator for the Comer Schools
and Families Initiative. She is also the Co-director
of the DEY Regional Training Center. Dr.Martin received
her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1973.
She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
She is also actively involved in Links, Ann Arbor
Chapter; National Alliance of Black School Educators
(NABSE); EMU's Black Faculty and Staff Association;
and in the Mentorship Program at EMU. Dr. Martin has
published several articles in educational journals
and is currently completing a textbook entitled "Ways
to Motivate Children". She received the 1990
Distinguished Faculty Award II from EMU and was also
selected to receive the prestigious 1991 state-level
award from the Michigan Association of Governing Boards
(MAGB). In 1997, Dr. Martin was awarded the Gold Medallion,
the highest honor presented by the Division of Campus
Life at EMU. She also, was the recipient of the Golden
Key Award and the Teaching Excellence Award at EMU
presented by the Alumni Association. Her most recent
recognition is a scholarship named in her honor and
bestowed by the Delta Beta Chapter (EMU) of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority. |

Clarece
Jackson is the Liaison between Continuing Education
and College of Education. Jackson received a Bachelor
of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University.
She is an active member of the University Continuing
Education Association. Jackson enjoys her Liaison
position at EMU because it offers her the opportunity
to interact with all levels of faculty, staff and
students.

As
a Detroit native who entered the education profession
after several other careers, Regina George is well
suited for her role as Director of the Urban Teacher
Education Program. With an undergraduate degree from
Marygrove College, Regina earned a Masters in Secondary
Education at Eastern Michigan University. She taught
in Willow Run Community Schools Adult Education and
Secondary Alternative Education for 15 years before
joining the EMU program. The Urban Teacher Certification
Program is delivered in Detroit and Flint where Regina
meets students at EMU extension sites. She also serves
as an instructor teaching Curriculum and Methods courses. |

Mia
Milton recently joined the Comer Schools and Families
Initiatives team in April 2002 as Administrative Associate
working alongside Dr. Nora Martin. She manages the
daily operations of the office in addition to working
on special projects for Comer Schools. Graduating
from Eastern Michigan University in 1996 with a B.S.
in Written Communications, Milton was previously employed
as Department Supervisor of the External Relations
Division at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. In addition
to specializing in public relations, she has had numerous
management positions with Jacobson's, Saks Fifth Avenue
and Ann Taylor. |

Dr.
Mary Ann Homann became involved with the Comer School
development family in 1995 when her expertise as a
health care professional and knowledge of health agency
networks brought an added perspective to the local
Comer team. Her current role is mentor, coach and
consultant to EMU's School Development Program staff.
Dr. Homann, a product of public and private education
on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, attended public
and private K-12 schools in Scotland. Her nursing
education was received at National Health Service
hospitals in Scotland, where she held State Board
of Nursing Licensure and certification in both general
nursing and psychiatric nursing. She received a Bachelor
of Science in Nursing from Madonna University in Michigan,
and three advanced degrees, Master of Arts, Specialist
in Arts, and Doctor of Education from Eastern Michigan
University. Her philosophy of nursing and education,
based on a holistic view of the patient/client/student
as an individual within a family and within a community,
is in concert with the caring philosophy central to
the Comer model. |

Norma
Taylor-Bishop is the Senior Secretary for the Office
of Collaborative Education. She received her degree
in Secondary Education from Eastern Michigan University.
She came to Eastern 23 years ago and has worked in
several different divisions on campus during that
time. She has been with the College of Education for
about 20 years. She's involved in the mentoring of
incoming freshmen students through the Holman Learning
Center. In addition to mentoring freshmen students,
she has served on the campus wide, Martin Luther King
celebration committee for the last four years. |
