Earth-Space Science Section 4 Candidate Preparation
In Michigan, one is not eligible to be recommended for a licensure as a teacher by an institution until one has (a) completed all the institutional requirements and (b) taken and passed all the relevant state certifications tests. In regard to the state certification test in Space/Earth Science (currently called Geology/Earth Science), Eastern Michigan University has excelled. Results, as reported by the Michigan Department of Education, show that EMU has the highest pass rate in Space/Earth Science when compared to all other institutions that develop teachers (Table 4.1). The mean pass rate for EMU over the five year period is about 76%.
