A review of the Master Syllabus for the proposed SPCI 429 clearly shows
compliance with these eight student goals:

new knowledge base to understanding more fully the implications of disabilities
to individuals with disabilities, their families and society;

identification, diagnosis and use of prescriptive teaching methods associated
with various disabilities;

therapeutic, curricular and continuum of service models, instructional systems
and theoretical constructs used in the care and treatment of persons with

According to the Graduate
Catalog, 400-level undergraduate courses are
available for graduate credit. Students taking these courses are required to
perform additional graduate-level work.
Therefore, students enrolled in SPCI 429 who wish to receive graduate
credit will be required to complete an additional project. Examples of the type of project that would be
acceptable could include a detailed review of current literature on a topic
discussed in class, teaching an additional lesson to students with mild
cognitive impairments, presentation of student work at the undergraduate
symposium or Michigan CEC.
Note: A copy of
the proposed course syllabus and instructor’s current curriculum vitae must accompany this request.
