- Minimum 3.0 GPA

- Must be earning at least a portion of college expenses
- Members of Bergoine or Annesser family is not eligible
Edith Calder Block Endowed Scholarship
- Undergraduate student seeking initial certification
- Early Education major
College of Education Endowed Scholarship
- To provide scholarship for students in the College of Education
(as determined by the dean and the dean's designees to help
address the priorities of the College)
Gwin E. Ferrington Endowed Scholarship
- Undergraduate student seeking initial certification
- Not open to Freshmen
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Elementary or Secondary Education major
Furlotte Twins Endowed Scholarship
- Upperclassmen students enrolled in the College of Education
elementary education program
- who exhibit promise, creativity and academic conscientiousness
in pursuit of their intention
to teach elementary school students.
- Scholarship awards are renewable when qualifications are
maintained.
- A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is required.
- Applicants who are a twin will be given preference over all
other candidate
Greasley – Mich Endowed Scholarship
- To provide a tuition scholarship(s) to a student(s) who plans
to become an elementary
or secondary teacher.
- The scholarship is for junior or senior undergraduate student(s)
and is renewable as long
as satisfactory academic progress is
made toward the degree.
Gustine Family Endowed Scholarship
- Provide support for educational expenses to a student in the
Teacher Preparation
Program who is a single parent with financial
need as determined by the College of Education.
- Scholarship will be awarded by the College of Education's
scholarship committee to
a Junior or Senior admitted to the
Teacher Preparation Program who is majoring in
Elementary
Education and who is in good academic standing.
- Scholarship may be awarded to the same student for two
consecutive years at the
discretion of the College of Education
Scholarship Committee.
Theophilus E. Hamilton Endowed Scholarship
- The intended purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial
support for older,
returning students to enroll full-time in the
Teacher Preparation Program at EMU
- Preference will be given to students who are:
- Seeking a career in education and enrolled in the
College of Education Professional Education Programs at EMU
- Returning to their college education
- Economically disadvantaged
Phyllis and Elsie Kalmbach Endowed Scholarship
- Undergraduate-senior status
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Elementary Education major
- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program
- Demonstrated financial need
Frank J. Kelley Endowed Scholarship
- Recipient must be a post-baccalaureate student seeking initial
teacher certification
- Preference given to male students and minority students
- Recipient must have a 3.0 GPA
- Recipient must write an essay that outlines what has drawn them
to teaching and
why they are qualified to receive the award
Nancy G. Kliza Endowed Scholarship
- Married student preferred seeking initial certification
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- English major
- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program
- Intending on teaching English at secondary level upon graduation
Edward and Thomas Kontry Endowed Scholarship
- Polish descent
- Undergraduate or Graduate student
- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Science Education major
- Demonstrated financial need
Mary D. (Regitko) Lavers Endowed Scholarship
- Assist students in the Teacher Preparation Program who
are pursuing a degree and certification in education
- Preference given to students in the secondary education or
counseling programs.
- Ideal candidate will have demonstrated (1) creativity in fostering
learning and (2) a commitment to children. These may be
determined by an essay, letters of recommendation, or other
means determined by the Scholarship Committee.
Mildred J. Lyman Endowed Scholarship
- Good academic standing and be inclined to use the visual
arts to enhance student learning
- Applicants should include a statement of their experience
with visual arts and how that will improve their teaching
and student learning
Lettie Augustine Marsh Memorial Endowed Scholarship
- Recipient must be enrolled in the teacher preparation
program within the College of Education
- The student recipient should have a 3.0 GPA
Michigan Service Scholars Program [MSS]
- MSS will award $1000 scholarships, known as an
AmeriCorps Educational Award, to students willing to
complete
300 hours of community service during one
calendar
year.

Philice Nemecheck Education Expendable Scholarship
- Students must be enrolled in the Teacher Preparation Program
- Students must have a 2.0 GPA or above
- Students must possess financial need as determined by the Office of
Financial Aid at Eastern Michigan University
- Students must submit a 1-page essay outlining their
qualifications/background for receipt of this scholarship
- An interview session will be held with the selected candidates
and a
selection committee to determine the awardees for the
Nemecheck scholarship. This committee will be made up of three
individuals selected by the Dean
Georgiana H. Randall Endowed Scholarship
- Minority student
- Undergraduate or part-time bachelor student seeking
initial certification
- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program
Jerry Robbins Endowed Scholarship
- Recipient must be pursuing a career as a teacher of mathematics.
- Working towards or having completed a major in mathematics.
- Formal admission to the Eastern Michigan University initial teacher
preparation program
- GPA average of at least 3.0 in all mathematics courses completed
at the time of application
- In instances where multiple applicants meet all minimum criteria
(1-3 above), preference should
be given to a person who is in
the numerical minority among EMU prospective teachers of
mathematics on one or more of the following demographic
characters: gender, ethnicity,
handicapping condition, sexual
orientation, out-of-state resident
Jack and Joanne Stapleton Endowed Scholarship
- Limited to graduates of Livonia or Southfield Michigan High Schools
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Undergraduate or Graduate students seeking initial certification
- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program
- Must have completed at least 60 credits from EMU
- Must compose essay in order to demonstrate financial need
Edith Mays Swanson Endowed Scholarship
- Willow Run High School graduate
- Preference to African-American students although all minority
students are eligible
- Enrolled in at least 7 credit hours
- Not open to freshmen
- Admitted in initial Teacher Preparation Program in good standing

Sweetland Sisters Endowed Scholarship
- Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a curriculum
for teaching.
- Demonstrating high scholarship (3.0 or better GPA)
- Demonstrating high need, as determined by the College.
- Preference given to those from a farm (rural) background
Estelle Thompson Endowed Scholarship
- Female, full-time undergraduate student
- New or continuing undergraduate student
- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program

Katherine Van Hoy Endowed Scholarship
- Undergraduate student
- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program

Westerman Minority Endowed Scholarship

- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program

- Admitted to the initial Teacher Preparation Program in elementary education
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Financial need as determined by COE scholarship committee

- Shall be awarded annually to same student throughout student’s undergraduate career provided the student remains in the elementary education program and continues to meet criteria

- Must demonstrate financial need
- Successful applicant may have scholarship renewed for a second year if they are achieving satisfactory progress and demonstrating financial need
- All other things being equal, a first priority will be given to an African-American student
Helen F. Gilbert Endowed
- Good academic standing at EMU
- Preparing to become a teacher
- Available to undergraduate, graduate or post-baccalaureate student
Gail Ardis Hughes Elementary Education Scholarship
- Student in Elementary Education
- Preference for focusing on grades 1-3 with emphasis on reading and writing skills
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA)
- Selections criteria may include student’s ability with young children and promise of leadership as discerned through class work.
