State Board Continuing Education Units (SB-CEUs) are State Board-approved in-services, workshops, training, or conference credits that are used for the renewal of selected certificates issued by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). Teachers may not use SB-CEUs for a Provisional Renewal, Endorsement program, or the first Professional Education Certificate. However, they can be used to renew a Professional Education Certificate. When you meet requirements for the Professional Education Renewal, apply for your updated certificate through the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS). Because the Michigan Department of Education is transitioning to MOECS, they are not accepting applications for any type of teacher certification from November 15, 2010 through February 7, 2011. MOECS will be activated beginning February 8, 2011.
