Becoming a Teacher at EMU

Introduction

Your very first step in becoming a teacher through Eastern Michigan University is to be admitted to EMU. For information on how to be admitted to EMU, contact the EMU Admissions Office at 734.487.3060, or write to that office at 400 Pierce Hall, EMU, Ypsilanti, MI 48197, or see the Admissions Office's home page.

Immediately after the semester in which you have earned 56 semester hours of credit (about at the end of your sophomore year), you should apply for admission to the teacher education program. You must meet certain criteria in order to be admitted.

The COE Office of Academic Services has application forms available in the office at 206 Porter Building or online.
