EMU prepares teachers at the secondary level with K-12 endorsements in Japanese, music, physical education, technology and design, and visual art education. A K-12 endorsement is also available for French, German and Spanish majors. The K-12 endorsement allows the teacher to teach in all grades K-12 in the major, and for those programs requiring a minor, to teach in grades 6-12 in the minor.
If you want to become a K-12 teacher, there are three major components to the courses that you must take:
- You will be required to complete a group of general education courses.
- You will complete a major and, in some instances, a minor.
- You will complete your studies with a series of professional education courses, concluding with student teaching.
