Becoming a Teacher at EMU: Preparation

If you want to become an elementary teacher, there are three major components to the courses that you must take.

First, you will be required to take a group of general education courses.

Second, you have a choice of taking either

(a) a major and a minor, from among certain majors and minors or

(b) three minors, from among certain minors.

Third, you will complete your studies with a series of professional studies courses, concluding with student teaching.

If you want to become a secondary teacher, there are three major components to the courses that you must take.

Second, you must take a major, from among certain majors, and, in most instances, a minor from among certain minors.
