Becoming a Teacher at EMU: Why EMU?
The EMU College of Education--and the professional education programs of the university--are on the "cutting edge" of preparation of education (and related) professionals.
For 150 years, what is now the EMU College of Education has provided outstanding leadership in education. Our graduates are highly sought by school districts and other employers. Our alums have achieved many recognitions and positions of prominence.
All professional education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the Michigan Department of Education. Many programs hold an additional national recognition.
As a part of EMU, the College of Education is accessible, geographically, to a large population base; financially as a "good buy" for a quality education; and programmatically in terms of a large, diverse, and "user-friendly" full-time teaching faculty with a wide range of expertise and experience.
The College offers a comprehensive range of programs--bachelor's through doctorate degrees--and extensive non-degree learning experiences.
