What is online learning?

Online learning means that you are taking courses that are offered online via the Internet. The EDMT online courses are offered via EMU Online.

I have never taken an online course before. How do I register for an online course?

EMU students register using the University Web Registration System. Using your Internet browser,

  • Access http://my.emich.edu.
  • Log-in with your EMU userID and password and click School Services.
  • On the School Services screen, click Student and Financial Aid.
  • From there, click Registration.
  • Then click
    1. Select a Term
    2. Check Your Registration Status
    3. Register for Classes by one of two methods, clicking ADD or DROP Class or by clicking Look-up Classes

Once I have registered for a course, how can I get familiar with the online system?

You should complete the Student Orientation Tutorial that is available after logging in to EMU-Online.

How much time do I have to spend online when taking an online course?

To keep pace with course work and assignments, plan to log in regularly and frequently. The average is 6.6 times per week.

What if I do not have access to the software or hardware that I need to complete assignments in my online course?

As an EMU College of Education student, you can come to the Bonisteel Computer located in 205 Porter and use the software and hardware.
