Their mission is to foster, develop and support youth initiative, and a strong representational youth voice in the service and decision-making life of our community, and to engage youth as resources on a county, state-wide, national and international basis.
PARENTING SUPPORT, CHILD EDUCATION, & CHILD CARE
Child Care Network/Washtenaw Regional 4C works with communities “to develop child care that is safe, accessible and affordable.” Services include: helping parents find child care via referrals/licensed sites; providing info about how to choose quality care; assisting low-income families with the cost of licensed care; providing training/support for early childhood professionals; and providing info/education/advocacy on issues affecting the well being of children.
The Children’s Center’s Teen Parenting Program provides services to young women and men (ages 12-21) that are pregnant or parenting, including emotional and mental support, support in the area of life skills and continuing educational goals, and parenting workshops. All identified family members are included in order to build a network of support around the young person.
Head Start was designed to help break the cycle of poverty by providing preschool children of low income families with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional and educational needs.
Success by Six in Washtenaw County provides services for parents, training and support for childcare providers, and system help for the agencies and programs working to serve families and young children.

HEALTH, HOUSING, & FOOD
The Corner Health Center is “Michigan's first, largest and most comprehensive teen health center," offering a wide range of medical care, health education and support services to low-income, young people aged 12-21 and their children.
United Way 2-1-1 is “a multi-lingual, comprehensive information and referral service available 24/7/365.” It has a database of 20,000 programs and services, and special projects including: 2-1-1 On the Go! to help homeless individuals get off the streets and into permanent housing and full-time employment, and 2-1-1 Help Book to assist social workers, case managers and families.
Ozone House is a community-based, nonprofit agency that serves the needs of runaway, homeless, and high-risk youth and their families. Through support, intervention, training, and assistance, Ozone House helps youths develop essential life skills, improve their relationships, and enhance their self-image.
SOS Community Services provides services to families who are homeless or who are experiencing housing-related crises, including: emergency shelter; housing relocation; eviction prevention; utility assistance; emergency food; life skills training; support groups; daycare; social and emotional skill groups for children; and parent education.
Shelter Association of Washtenaw County offers those experiencing homelessness a wide array of services, in one central location, all year long. The Shelter Association is housed at the Robert J. Delonis center on the edge of downtown Ann Arbor and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Washtenaw Housing Alliance (WHA) is a unique coalition of twenty-eight community-based organizations that serve those experiencing homelessness or those at risk of homelessness.
Salvation Army of Washtenaw County offers many services such as Emergency Assistance, Youth Services, and Housing/Residence Services in Washtenaw County. This website lists the different locations and the services they offer and provide.
Food Gatherers seeks to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in the community by: distributing perishable and non-perishable food, coordinating with other hunger relief providers, educating the public about hunger, and developing new food resources.
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a health and nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers, and young children eat well and stay healthy. WIC also provides nutrition education and counseling and help accessing health care. To apply for WIC services please call 734-544-6800.

EDUCATION & EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT
Education Project for Homeless Youth (EPHY), a project of the Washtenaw Intermediate School District, works to ensure students experiencing homelessness enroll, regularly attend and succeed in school. EPHY provides many services such as housing crisis, transportation, school supplies, clothing, financial assistance, mentoring, and tutoring to name a few.
The Student Advocacy Center (SAC) provides free individual case advocacy, technical assistance, and training for parents, students, and professionals about children’s educational entitlements and due process rights in Michigan. The advocates are not employees of the schools or the government. Programs include Teen Parenting Groups, Lifeskills Training, and Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN).
Stone School is an alternative high school serving students age 15-19. It is a “full day, full school year, academic NCA accredited high school based on William Glasser's theories of Reality Therapy,” and is part of the Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools
The Neutral Zone offers many programs, such as Education for academic success, Literary Arts for creative writing, Visual Arts for teen artists, Music to discover your talents, and Leadership to develop leadership skills. Their mission is: The Neutral Zone is a diverse, youth-driven teen center dedicated to promoting personal growth through artistic expression, community leadership and the exchange of ideas.” You can drop in Monday thru Thursday 2:30-8pm, Friday 2:30-6pm and closed on the weekends.
Destiny & Purpose Community Outreach (DAPCO) provides various programs and assistance to youth, women and men in the community. One of many programs offered is called C.A.P. which is a free 10 week employment training program.
MIchigan Works! of Washtenaw County offers a variety of employment training programs and services to support youth in exploring career options, considering education and training opportunities, implementing effective job search strategies, obtaining internships and limited work experiences, and building the skills to support self-sufficiency. Programs are open to youth, ages 14 to 21, who meet family or individual income eligibility requirements.

FAITH-BASED
POWER, Inc. is a Christian Community Development Corporation offering community programs, including: parent education, family emergency assistance, Michigan Prisoner Re-entry Initiative, Restoration counseling services, wraparound, academic tutoring, and Family Financial Academy.
Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County offers adoption and pregnancy counseling, food assistance, homelessness prevention, domestic and child abuse intervention and prevention, family therapy, and services designed to assist individuals with developmental disabilities and at-risk families with young children.
Jewish Family Services provides direct and support social services, including: family life education, mental health referral program, case management, employment/career services for all non-English speaking clients in Washtenaw County, and ESL. People from all religious and ethnic backgrounds are welcome.
