Eastern Michigan University's Winter
2008 Commencement ceremonies will
take place Sunday, December
14, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the
Convocation Center on Hewitt Road. Directions
to the Convocation Center are here.
Participation in the December commencement
ceremony is open to the following
students:
1. Graduates whose degree was conferred in June or August
2008, but who did not participate in the April 2008 ceremony.
2. Students who have applied, and are still active, for
December 2008 graduation.
Students who will be completing
their degree in April 2009 or later are not eligible to
participate in the December 2008 ceremony. We will look
forward to welcoming you to ceremonies in 2009!
IMPORTANT DEADLINES:
- Graduates: The
deadline to have your name published
in the Commencement book has passed;
please contact the Registrar's
office if you have questions.
- Deadline
for faculty to turn in cap and gown
rental forms (DOC or PDF): December
5.
Graduates: Please note that
you will not receive Commencement
information in the mail. This web site
is your source for all official information
related to Commencement.

Asked Questions (FAQs)
Please Remember:
- Tickets ARE required to
enter the Convocation Center.
Each graduate is allotted six
tickets in addition to him/herself. IMPORTANT: For
specific instructions regarding
ticket pick-up, which must occur
no later than December 9, please
review the undergraduate or graduate information.
Visitors, including children, must
each have a ticket for admittance to
the Convocation Center. Seating
is on a first-come, first-served
basis. Doors open at
12:30 p.m.
- Ride to the door: Two
free shuttle busses will
pick up graduates and guests
in the Convocation Center and
Rynearson Stadium parking lots
and drop them at the front door
of the Convocation Center. Busses
will run from 12:30 a.m. to
5 p.m.
- Graduates: PLEASE DO
NOT bring coats, purses or any
other personal items into the
Convocation Center unless you
have guests who can hold these
items throughout the day. There
will be NO
locked facilities for
valuables; there will be no
extra space on the Convocation
Center floor; and there will
be no access to the robing rooms
after the ceremony is finished.
- No food or beverages will
be permitted (or provided) in
the Convocation Center during
the Commencement ceremonies.
- Following the ceremony, graduates
are directed OUTDOORS to
greet family and guests. There
will be no re-entrance
into the Convocation Center after
the ceremony ends. Please make
arrangements with your guests
to meet at a designated
spot outside the Convocation
Center after the ceremony has
ended.
- Handicapped access/seating
is available, but must be arranged
in advance. Contact
the Convocation Center during
normal business hours at 734.487.2282
to arrange for handicapped seating
or related special needs.
- Personal photography
is NOT permitted around the
stage area. Guests
may photograph or videotape
graduates from their seats,
but access will not be provided
to the stage area. Each graduate
will, however, receive a FREE
color proof of a professional
photograph taken as
they receive their diploma cover.
Each graduate will have the
option of purchasing additional
copies of the photograph. Please
note that the stage area
and arena floor will be closed
immediately following the ceremony;
so no post-ceremony photography
will be permitted indoors.
