Computer Science Student Assistant Position

Please visit the Computer Science Office to speak with Kirk Nagel, the Computer Science Lab Coordinator. Do not fill out an application. Do not bring a resume. Do not call. Do not e-mail. Hiring decisions are influenced by the ability to follow simple directions.

COSC 101 Scheduled Lab Assistants and Lab Leaders

Students are hired to work as assistants and lab leaders for the COSC 101 scheduled labs held in 311/508D Pray-Harrold. Students must have had COSC 101 or demonstrate equivalent experience.

COSC 101 Lab assistants are paid $7.50 per hour to start. After completing one semester as a 101 Lab Assistant, a student may apply to work as a 101 Lab Leader. Pay for Lab Leaders starts at $10.50 per hour. Pay raises are usually given each semester. Merit increases are also available. Work study will be given preference.

COSC 111, 211, 221 Scheduled Lab Assistants and Graders

Students are hired to work as assistants and graders for the advanced labs. Departmental approval is necessary in order to obtain these jobs. Familiarity with the course material is required.

Graders are paid based on experience and faculty recommendation. Work study will be given preference.

General Lab Assistants

The General Lab in 513/514 Pray-Harrold hires student lab assistants to work in the lab. Students must at least basic computing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Computer Science related applications is a plus. Both PC and Mac operating systems are used in the lab. You may wish to check the list of software being used in the General Lab. Familiarity with all software is not required.

Lab assistants are paid $7.15 per hour to start. Pay raises are usually given each semester. Merit increases are also available. Work study will be given preference.
