Cerner's Software Engineers are instrumental in the development and support of Cerner's leading edge clinical and management information systems. Software Engineers are responsible for fully understanding user requirements, providing input to functional design, developing applications, testing systems, and troubleshooting across Cerner's entire family of solutions. To accomplish their work, they use a variety of languages, including Java, Visual C++, Visual Basic, C++ and SQL using Oracle databases.

Cerner's System Consultants design, install, implement, and provide technical support for Cerner application software. They consult with clients, analyze information requirements, design system information flow, implement processes, install and support Cerner and third-party licensed software (IBM, HP, ORACLE, and others) and configure systems and application software for optimal performance, recoverability, and availability. System Consultants may be responsible for the design and implementation of data interfaces with non-Cerner information systems. Typical responsibilities include consulting with clients, analyzing information requirements, designing messages to be passed between systems, and implementing processes.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Proficient programming knowledge
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required (System Engineer only)
  • Interest and experience in the healthcare industry preferred
  • Relocation to Cerner's World Headquarters in the Kansas City metropolitan area
