Short Bio:

Having joined Eastern Michigan University in 1993, Dr. Giri Jogaratnam is Professor of Hotel and Restaurant Management. He has accumulated a breadth of teaching, research, and industry experiences in the domestic and international environments. Most recently, Dr. Jogaratnam spent two years at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University before returning to EMU. Previously, he has also held academic and counselor positions at Virginia Tech and Radford University.

Dr. Jogaratnam has published in premier peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, the Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly, the International Journal of Hospitality Management, the Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, the Journal of Vacation Marketing, Tourism Management, and the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management.

Dr. Jogaratnam has been recognized by his academic peers for excellence in research. Most recently he received the “Article of the Year Award” – from the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (2003). He also received the “Best Paper Award” at the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators (ISTTE) Annual Conference in 2005.
