Goals
Near and Long Term Goal:
The advancement of quality construction management education by connecting with communities, industry and organizations.
Near term objectives:
- Improve the pass rate of our CM seniors taking the AIC’s CQE-Level 1 (Construction Fundamentals) Exam.
- Measurement: Compare pass rate with the previous years to determine improvement.
- Finalize and implement a revised CM program that reflects adjustments made in relation to general education reform in EMU.
- Measurement: The developed student advising sheet approved by EMU and meets ACCE curriculum requirements.
- Add a general business minor option and choice of “concentrations” to the CM program curriculum.
- Measurement: New curriculum approved by University.
- Maintain CM faculty involvement in research and/or service activities related to their fields of expertise.
- Measurement: Presentations, publications, and/or or service activities.
Long term objectives:
- Increase learning beyond the classroom opportunities with service learning construction projects for EMU and the surrounding community.
- Measurement: Carrying out projects within EMU and the surrounding community.
- Develop an inter-disciplinary course, sustainable design-build synergy – a collaborative course involving EMU programs and government agencies, community service organizations, and industry sponsors.
- Measurement: Approval of course by EMU.
- Increase collaborative efforts of CM students and faculty with students and faculty of other EMU programs.
- Measurement: Number of collaborative activities and students.
- Increase emphasis on sustainability in our Program curriculum and student involvements.
- Measurement: About 25% of our courses to have a component of sustainability.
- Student and/or involvement in sustainable activities.
- Improve our recruitment efforts to increase the percentage of minorities and women in our Program.
- Measurement: Relevant recruitment events attended by faculty.
